Episode 1
Old Dogs Relations between Martin and Louisa are tense after their disastrous first kiss. Jealousy rears its head when an old flame of Louisas, suave architect Danny Steel (Tristan Sturrock) arrives in Portwenn, apparently intent on romancing her again. Martin gets a new receptionist, and discovers the shocking truth about a catalogue of mysterious injuries suffered by fisherman Eddie Rix (Gerald Horan).
Episode 2
In Loco Louisa is nervously awaiting an interview for promotion to head teacher of Portwenn Primary School but the odds seem to be stacked against her when a skin infection breaks out among the pupils. Bert Large is left in charge of the fish and chip shop when owner Mrs Cronk is rushed to Hospital. All is going swimmingly until Berts son Al discovers how Bert has been conning his customers.
Episode 3
Blood Is Thicker Bert Large hides a heartbreaking secret that could jeopardize his close relationship with son Al. Martin makes a house call to the Flint brothers, who share a bizarre passion for taxidermy, and begins to harbour suspicions about their mother, who hasnt been seen for years. PC Mark Mylow deals with the arrival of his domineering sister, who has decided to set up shop as an herbalist – in his flat.
Episode 4
Aromatherapy Theres concern that local radio presenter Caroline Bosman (Felicity Montagu) may have a drinking problem when she starts slurring her words and driving erratically. PC Mark Mylow has romance on his mind when he offers driving lessons to Julie (Angeline Ball), a pretty blonde newcomer to Portwenn. Martin faces a sticky situation with patient Vernon Cooke (Hugh Lloyd), who stinks so badly that no one can bear to stay in the same room with him.
Episode 5
Always On My Mind Irate husband Phil Pratt (Roger Lloyd Pack) accuses Dr Martin of killing his wife Helen (Jean Trend), spilling over into a bitter feud with Martins aunt Joan who lives next door. Pauline wants to join the Portwenn lifeboat crew and primary school secretary Tricia seems strangely reluctant to see Dr Ellingham.
Episode 6
The Family Way Dr Ellinghams estranged parents charming Christopher (John Woodvine) and Margaret (Claire Bloom) make a surprise visit, school secretary Maureen Tracey (Ruth Sheen) visits the doctor with what she thinks it is a thyroid problem, PC Mark Mylow announces hes getting engaged, and when Danny Steel collapses, Dr Ellingham has to carry out emergency surgery to save his life.
Episode 7
Out Of The Woods PC Mark Mylow cant persuade Dr Ellingham to be his best man, but Al Large agrees. The stag weekend, a camping trip goes wrong when an adder bites Marks ankle and he suffers a potentially fatal allergic reaction. Meanwhile, Dr Ellingham deals with a spate of weever fish stings among teenage boys playing a dangerous game of dare.
Episode 8
Erotomania Julie tells PC Mark Mylow that theyre going to have a baby – but that doesnt square with the results of his medical test. A member of the Salvation Army arrives in Portwenn searching for a missing woman, and her photograph looks familiar to Martin and Louisa. Danny asks Louisa to move in with him, but she has her doubts. Aunt Joan urges Martin to step in between them, before its too late.
