General Information
Men Behaving Badly is one of the most successful UK situation comedies of the 1990's.
It started life on the ITV network in 1992, being first broadcast in February/March.
The second series saw the first change in the main cast when Harry Enfield left to be replaced by Neil Morrissey. It stayed with ITV and was first broadcast in September/October 1992.
Series three saw a move to the BBC network and was shown at the later time of 10.00pm, enabling it to become much more 'juicy' in it's content! It was first shown in July/August 1994.
Series four saw the number of episodes increase to seven (from six). It stayed with the BBC and was first shown in May/June/July 1995.
In series five, the second cast change took place. Dave Atkins (The Landlord of the local pub) left the show to be replaced by John Thomson. Again, the BBC hosted the show and there were seven episodes in the series.
Series six went back to six episodes and little was seen of the support cast.
There was a Christmas Special in 1997, and also a 'special' for the BBC's Comic Relief in the same year.
There were three Christmas Specials on BBC1 over Christmas 1998.
The show is an independent production from Hartswood Films in association with Fremantle International Distribution for the BBC. It is filmed before a live audience at Teddington Studios in West London.
Christmas Special Is it a badly behaved Christmas for Tony and Gary? ...Of Course it is...
Series One The first six episodes of what is to become one of the best comedy shows of the 90's. Although lacking the bite of future series, and the somewhat badly cast character of Dermot (played by the otherwise superb Harry Enfield), this series is essential viewing if only to get in the mood for the delights to come. "If this is the worst, how much better can it get!"
Series Two This series was first shown on the ITV network. It kept all the characters from the original series except for Gary's flatmate, Dermot. The first episode introduces the new character of Tony. From this point on Men Behaving Badly becomes a classic BritCom.
Series Three This was the first series shown on the BBC. Series one and two were shown on the ITV network. Its later airing time of 10.00pm enabled the series to become more 'juicy' in it's content!
Series Four The second series shown on the BBC. There were seven episodes made (unlike the previous series, that each ran to six episodes). The seven main characters remained in place, but is it my imagination that George, Anthea and Les take a more 'back stage' role?
Series Five In this series, the second major cast change took place. Dave Atkins (The Landlord of the local pub) left the show to be replaced by John Thomson. Again, the BBC hosted the show and there were seven episodes in the series.
Series Six Back to six episodes in series 6. No cast changes, but the series seemed to focus much more on the four major characters. According to news reports, this is the last series to be made.
